Miao Tien

Born: December 6, 1925
Taiwan native Miao Tien was a frequent player in kung fu films during the 1970's,
including productions for the Shaw Brothers studios.
Since 1992 he has starred in several Taiwanese dramas directed by Tsai Ming Liang
which have been screened at Cannes and received international attention. His role as a
closeted gay man in The River garnered the Special Jury Prize for best actor at the
Singapore International Film Festival. Miao Tien passed away in 2005.
