(Yip Pui Man, Grace Ip)
Singer, Actress
Born: February 1, 1980 Languages: Cantonese, English
Singer Grace Yip Pui Man debuted in 1998 with the single Boom Ba La, and later
released successful albums such as Amazing, RPG, and Shine which contained songs
ranging from ballads to pop to techno.
In 1999 Grace began acting, most notably as the feisty 'Y2K' in Media Asia's "Mod Squad"
inspired action film Gen-X Cops.
Grace has collaborated with Nicholas Tse musically and on screen- the two were in David
Lam's Street Angels, lensed in Singapore, and the Jackie Chan produced Gen-X Cops.
Initially, Grace's career ran nearly parallel with her more prolific EEG labelmate Joey Yung.
They share the same age and youth audience demographic, and both were mentored by a
music veteran- in Yip's case, noted Japanese producer Tetsuya Komuro. Grace's music can
be darker and edgier than Joey's, and she exudes a spunkier image; yet both girls are
regularly photographed for idol magazines and various advertising.
Mysteriously, Grace has now curtailed her creative output so severely that her current career
status is essentially comatose. Instead of performing, Grace has opened a clothes stall
in Mainland China.
