Born: October 25, 1971
Athena Chu Yan, a popular movie and TV actress known for her fresh, playful
image, began her career in 1991 on TVB. She later stepped into the film arena
in dramas, comedies, and other fare. Athena has released three albums in Asia,
some of which have benefited from the production work of her boyfriend, Paul Wong
of the HK rock group Beyond. Her 1997 debut album, 'Glass', produced 2 hit singles.
She also supports herself as the image girl for advertisers such as Sharp and Epson.
Athena made her film debut with Stephen Chow in Fight Back To School II (1992). She
has since starred with performers such as Nick Cheung, Yuen Biao and Donnie Yen.
A converted Christian, Chu's portrayal of a drug addict in the Christian themed film
The Boss Up There was nominated for a 1999 Golden Horse Award. The role
marked a transition in her career from flower vase roles to more serious fare.
